Heymann Primary and Nursery School is seeking to appoint a forward-thinking and innovative Deputy Head Teacher who can provide a positive contribution to school improvement. We are a busy, diverse, friendly and welcoming school. We have 630 children on roll, including a 39 place Nursery. The school serves the West Bridgford community, but we take children from both Nottinghamshire County and Nottingham City. The school is situated over two sites. Our KS1 and Nursery building is relatively new and is a few minutes’ walk away from our KS2 building, which has extensive grounds and facilities.
The new Deputy Head Teacher will work alongside our Deputy, who is based at KS2, our two Assistant Head Teachers and Head Teacher. The successful applicant will have a non-teaching role but will do some PPA cover and releasing of staff for subject monitoring.
We are looking for an excellent practitioner with drive and enthusiasm, who has the knowledge, experience and skills to lead, alongside other members of the senior leadership team, on teaching, learning, curriculum and phonics. The successful candidate will need to have significant Early Years experience and previous leadership experience. It is intended that the successful applicant will be based at our KS1 site.
The Deputy Head Teacher will work closely with the head teacher and other senior leaders in the school. The school and the Trust will be very supportive and provide high quality CPD, and opportunities to work collaboratively with other senior leaders and our School Improvement Advisors across the Trust.

• Have a good knowledge of Early Years practice.
• Be proactive and solution focused.
• Be reflective about your own practice and keen to contribute to your own learning and professional development.
• Have some leadership experience and be forward thinking.
• Have excellent organisational skills.
• Have an in-depth knowledge of the curriculum across the primary age range including EYFS.
• Be energetic, passionate and enjoy working in a busy 3-form entry school.
