The Role

Are you ready to make a significant impact on the lives of our children? Do you possess the experience, empathy and dedication required to provide tailored support to children who need social and emotional support?

We are seeking a dedicated, empathetic and experienced ELSA Teaching Assistant to join our team, who is passionate about supporting the social and emotional well-being of our children. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering Emotional Literacy Support (ELSA) interventions to individuals/small groups of students, helping them to develop coping strategies, emotional resilience and positive relationships. 

Working Pattern: Monday, Wednesday and Thursday (5.75 hours per day)


Key Responsibilities:

·       Delivering ELSA interventions to children, addressing a range of social and emotional needs.

·       Working closely with teachers and the SENCO identify children who would benefit from ELSA support.

·       Providing support and guidance to children in managing emotions, building self-esteem, and developing social skills.

·       Collaborating with the safeguarding team to ensure the safety and well-being of all students.

·       Supporting the Headteacher with attendance meetings with parents, addressing attendance issues sensitively and effectively.

·       Maintaining accurate records of ELSA interventions and children’s progress.

We need someone who…

·       Is a qualified ELSA Teaching Assistant with relevant training and certification. (Applications are welcome from applicants who are not qualified but want to develop in this area.)

·       Ideally demonstrates experience in delivering ELSA interventions and supporting students with social and emotional needs.

·       Has a strong understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures

·       Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents and staff.

·       Is empathetic and has a compassionate approach to supporting students' well-being.

·       Has excellent organisational skills and attention to detail for maintaining accurate records and documentation.

·       Is able to use their initiative and be flexible in their approach to best support the needs of the children

·       Is calm and patient with a positive outlook, adaptable to a variety of situations, some of which may be challenging.
