The Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our hardworking and dedicated staff team.

This is an ideal opportunity to work in a supportive environment where you can share and develop your skills and expertise.

At Wadsworth Fields, our "Be the Best You Can Be" motto is embedded in our school ethos. We are seeking a Teaching Assistant who can encourage and support each child in achieving this aim.

The role involves working alongside the class teacher and the school SENCO to support a child with needs related to communication and interaction, cognition and learning, and behaviour. This will be on a 1:1 basis, helping to equip the child with the skills and confidence needed to thrive in a supportive learning environment.

As part of Equals Trust, you will have access to high-quality professional development, opportunities for collaborative working, and the support of a highly skilled and experienced team of senior leaders, including colleagues from other local schools within the Trust.

Working across classes, you will be joining a strong and supportive team that strives to provide the best learning opportunities for our children. The role includes in-class support as well as delivering targeted intervention groups.

We believe a school is built on positive relationships — and at Wadsworth Fields, this is truly evident. The children are fantastic, the parents are brilliant, and the staff make up an amazing team. It really is a great place to work and learn. We work hard and are committed to supporting our children and families, with high expectations for ourselves and our pupils. Come and visit us to see for yourself!

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with children with SEMH needs
  • Has experience in delivering reading and phonics groups
  • Has high expectations for both achievement and behaviour
  • Is passionate about making a real difference in children's lives
  • Has a caring, patient attitude and remains calm under pressure
  • Has a positive mindset and puts children at the heart of everything they do
  • Has a proven ability to build positive relationships with parents/carers to support behaviour
  • Has a strong understanding of strategies to manage and support children with SEMH needs in a primary setting
  • Believes in the capacity of all young people to learn and grow, despite the challenges they may face
  • Can follow direction but also use their initiative when needed
  • Is a strong team player who is willing to go the extra mile to make school a great experience for all pupils

We can offer you:

  • Enthusiastic and engaged children
  • A talented, happy, and committed staff team
  • A supportive and inclusive working environment
  • Ongoing professional development, collaboration, and support through Equals Trust

Interested? Come and have a look around — we might be the school for you, and you might be the Teaching Assistant for us!
